Every unit at The Anderson is provisioned for gigabit — 1,000 Mbps — of managed fiber. But the number you see on a speed test depends a lot on the device you're testing from and whether you're on wifi or a wired connection.
Wired vs. wifi
A device plugged into the wall jack can hit the full gigabit. Over wifi, real-world throughput is typically 300–700 Mbps depending on the device, how far it is from the access point, and how busy the airwaves are. That's normal — wifi always tops out below the wire.
How to run an honest test
- Stand near your access point and close other apps.
- Use a wired laptop if you want to see the true circuit speed.
- Run the test a few times — one bad result is usually interference, not the network.
