The GE units pair with the free SmartHQ app over your unit's wifi, which means:
- Start, pause, and monitor a cycle from your phone — from anywhere.
- Get a notification the moment a wash or dry cycle finishes, so nothing sits damp and forgotten.
- Download specialty cycles and let the app recommend settings for the load you're doing.
- Voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and remote diagnostics if anything ever needs a look.

These are ENERGY STAR–certified high-efficiency front-loaders — a roomy 4.6 cu. ft. drum for fewer, bigger loads, dBT Quiet Control so they’re quiet enough to run next to a bedroom, gentle on clothes, and easy on water and energy. Steam and sanitize options handle everything from delicates to deep cleans.
How it works with your unit's private network
Inside your home you have your own private, WPA-encrypted network — the same one your phone, TV, and smart-home devices use. The GE washer and dryer join that network, so they sit right alongside your phone instead of on the shared, device-isolated Residents wifi.
That is what makes the smart features work: SmartHQ reaches your machines over your private network. Because your phone and the appliances are on the same private network, the app can talk to them directly — start or pause a cycle, check the time remaining, and get a push notification the moment a load finishes. And since the network is private and encrypted, only your devices can see the washer and dryer — neighbors can’t reach them and your laundry activity stays yours.
